Coronavirus Diary 80 – I’ve survived Covid19!

I’d just like to say thank-you for all the messages and emails I’ve received this last few weeks and with any luck I can say I just about made it through Covid 19.

I still have the famous Covid cough from the dreaded Delta variant and I still have no appetite or sense of taste or smell. I do have a taste and smell constantly inside me but I call it the Covid taste and more recently the Miasma smell, named after the smell of death which people in the old days spread disease…. perhaps not a good thing when you’re the origins of the Miasma!

It was a thoroughly unpleasant illness and it does sound that I had it about as bad as possible without ending up in hospital despite having 2 vaccines but on the other hand, that is why I was always high-risk in the first place.

It is all a bit typical that I obey all the rules and am one of the very few who even wears masks outside on some streets and barely go out and I still got it but at least I’ve had it now and I’ve been told I am scheduled to have a third booster jab in the coming weeks…. too little too late lol.

On the plus side it seems even though I had it worse than many people I know, my recovery has also been quicker and the day my 10 days self-isolation finished I managed to walk 3-4 miles and have done several 6-8 miles since then in the last 10 days though on occasion the cough does make me vomit both in the house and sometimes outdoors too.

The other plus point is that I lost 10-11 kgs in weight or 28lbs/2 stone in weight which probably says a lot about ill I have been.

It was also easier than 60-70% of chest infections I get though that is likely a combination of the vaccine and damning with faint praise seeing as how my chest can easily send me to hospital several times a year.

Anyway, fingers crossed…..

  1. Several of my friends who caught COVID & lost their sense of taste & smell report that over a year later, they STILL have a greatly diminished lack of both. Be careful when you’re cooking, you may not be able to tell when something is scorching on the stove!

    Glad you’re better! Hugs
