Straight from the Horse’s Mouth – New Book – Coming Soon!

I’ve been so busy with my tours this year that it has been really hard to keep up with my writing schedule.  My schedule is pretty demanding as I have two or three titles at various stages of completion.

However, the drought is almost over with my next release around the corner. Straight From The Horse’s Mouth delves into the English language and Idioms in particular.   I know many authors like to write solely fiction but I really enjoy writing fiction and non-fiction.  I’m sure that the best-selling fiction books sell better than the best-selling non-fiction books but to be honest, I think that for the average writer, it is easier to get recognition in the less crowded non-fiction categories.  Maybe they are a little harder to write but certainly my sales make it worth it.

An Idiom can be described as being a group of words in a fixed order that have a particular meaning that is different from the meanings of each word on its own.

Our modern English language is bursting with unusual sayings and Idioms that once had a very specific cause and meaning but centuries later, we use them every day even if we don’t exactly know why or even what they precisely mean.

Straight from the Horse’s Mouth is one such example and my new illustrated book takes a look at some of the popular Idioms that makes  English the beautiful, evolving and at times downright bizarre language that it is.

Coming soonish on Kindle, iBooks and paperback.

  2. Agree with you entirely on fiction selling more. I wrote two books on journalism after publishing five short stories (fiction) in magazines in my native tongue when I was 15-17.
Then I found journalists don’t read at all and want only free copies to decorate their bookshelves. Even the title ‘A TOWN CALLED PENURY -the Changing Culture of Indian Journalism’ did not arose their curiosity. So I my third book was to be NOT on journalism -‘THE OUTHOUSE ON THE FIRST FLOOR -Coming of (Old)Age in India’ about all aspects (psychological, medical, social, legal, economic) of aging in India.
I thought a good title was important. I was wrong. Most did not know ‘penury’ and most would not know that ‘Coming of Age in Samoa’ by Margaret Mead is one of the most famous books in anthropology. So I dropped the idea, as finding publishers will take ages. And time is what I do NOT have. So, though my blog is ‘UnstoppabeAfterSeventy’ it was time to stop and just wait for the curtain call.
