A number of events were also held in Portsmouth which was the Headquarters for D-Day planning including a Drumhead ceremony, commemorations and a special flypast by the Red Arrows acrobatic team.

The parachute jump by Jock Hutton was quite emotional to watch – what an inspiration.

He is indeed. Apparently he is going to be awarded the freedom of his city which is quite funny given that he roams around wherever he wants!

all those wonderful images brought tears to my eyes – how fortunate are we that we have not had to fight a war in our lifetime. Lest we forget.

Yes, we are very lucky indeed. Well not just luck, it was mostly due to the sacrifices if the brave people at places like D-Day.
