Christmas trees of London

As I posted last week on the most famous Christmas Tree, the one being in Trafalgar Square, I thought I might put up a few photos of some of my favourite ones I’ve seen in public spaces in London this year.

Of course there are hundreds of Christmas trees on display in London, possibly thousands but these ones are easy to find.

First up is this incredible 10 metre high Christmas tree in St. Pancras railway station in conjunction with Hatchards. It features hundreds if not thousands of books and complete with little snug cubby holes around the base for you to read or listen to an audio book.

I think London is one of the worlds most Christmassy cities and what could be better than arrive from Europe or indeed waiting to depart somewhere and seeing this wonderful tree.

If you want to combine your Christmas trees with a bit of sight-seeing or even go to a Christmas service then it’s hard not to be impressed by this beautiful tree and setting just around the side of St Pauls, near the Millennium Bridge.

What could be more Christmassy that a Dickensian Christmas? Few places feel like they’ve jumped out of a Charles Dickens story more than Leadenhall Market. I mean, Scrooge lives 2 minutes walk from here (see our Charles Dickens Tours).

Having said, this also looks rather splendid in a somewhat Victorian setting. A small but beautiful tree that I have seen about 10 times so far this December in Pickering Place.

Whereas Pickering Place is rather hard to find and against the spirit of the blog post 🙂 the crowds in the photo above indicate that this Christmas tree isn’t hard to find. Covent Garden, almost the epitome of Christmas in London.

If you’ve been watching the recent 60th anniversary specials of Doctor Who then you might be familiar with this location, Stables Market in Camden. Even the giant silver androids are getting into the spirit with Father Christmas hats.

Last but not least on my list is probably my favourite tree. This one at Kings Cross railway station which is obviously the gateway to many a rail journey but perhaps none more magical than the Hogwarts Express.

Do you have a favourite? Either way, Merry Christmas!

    1. Yes it is beautiful. It would be nice to spend a few hours just sitting there and watching families and friends have happy re-unions on the concourse or see people excitedly going off on long train journey with their bags full of gifts.
