Coronavirus Diary 62 – I love it when a plan comes together!

Some of you may remember that in the first days when everyone lock-down, I took the opportunity to go outside having already been shielding for a month or so.   I went off to fully explore my new neighbourhood and found so many attractions so I wrote quite a few posts on them and even decided to create a new tour My newest tour – Stanmore Circular Private Walking Tour.

I thought it wouldn’t hurt to create such a tour, I’d only lose some time and time is aplenty during this wretched virus situation.  Perhaps someone might want to make a booking who wouldn’t want to go into Central London.

As it happened I received my only booking between February 2020 and May 2021 (so far) from a man who lives just a few miles away having moved here from Malaysia in 1973.

It’a always a bit nervy doing a new tour as you can never be totally sure if it is any good; it can also be very good but for some reason attract people who aren’t a good match for it.  In this case I had the added excitement of not having met a tourist since February and finding out the day before that one of the tour locations is just a few feet of a Covid testing drive-thru area where everyone is in highly protective clothing!

I’m not even sure we should have been there, I’m pretty sure not as they had a security checkpoint at the main entrance but like I’d come through the main entrance of anywhere!!!

As it happened we did the tour just as if it were in London, Windsor or Stonehenge.  Taking photos and ‘messing-around’ as one could call it!

I was very glad to find out that my lovely tourist enjoyed his tour tremendously and was even kind enough to write this fantastic 5-star review which I’m sure you’ll agree is more than any 3 hour walk in Suburbia can really expect to receive.

So I received my £35.  I’m not sure what to spend it on.  Half of the electricity bill in March?  A weeks food bill from April?  Some medicines in May? Some patches to repair my torn jeans and holed shoes from June?  Or 15% of my car service and repairs from last week.

Hopefully more bookings will come but I’m sure not until 2021.  A year is a long time to go not to generate or receive any money and there are few places more expensive than London.
