A drive through London in 1946

I came across this video today when I was mean’t to be working on one of my worik in progress manuscripts.  It shows that traffic has always been bad in London though it seems quiet at first.

I really enjoyed watching this video and seem to know all of the streets the video takes us through;it has changed but then again it hasn’t changed that much so I thought I would share it with you all.

I like how people back then still risked their lives to run between vehicles just as I do today though I do think they had less in the way of suicdal motorbikes and couriers.

See if you notice at 1 minute 44 seconds some of the bombed out buildings near St. Pauls, you can actually see through the windows of the broken building to the next nearest ruin, a block away.

  1. So fascinating. It must have been so wonderful to walk around the streets normally after 5 years of war. No wonder everybody got out and about!
