King Richard III Private Leicester Walking Tour
Join us on our King Richard III Private Leicester Walking Tour. Just 71 minutes from London it’s a city rich in history, sport and culture.
A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!
Everyone remembers the news in 2012 when extraordinary archaeological works led to the discovery of King Richard III under a carpark in Leicester. In this tour we will visit the spot where he had lain buried for 527 years as well as visiting his majestic resting place in Leicester Cathedral where he was re-interred in the presence of royals and descendants of those who fought with him at the Battle of Bosworth.
On our private walking tour of Leicester we will also visit the beautiful old Guildhall and see the old Jewry Wall Bathhouse which dates from Roman times and visit other spots that were important in the life and death of King Richard III

The English Civil War
Leicester also played host to the English Civil War. Whilst not much of the castle remains now it has an important past. You can still see the loopholes the Parliamentary defenders made to shoot out at the Royalists outside.
We will explore the ‘modern’ Georgian streets and lanes of this old city whose modern day wealth was built on hosiery, footwear and engineering and see the old clock tower in the centre of the city.
If you like, we can walk 20-30 minutes to the beautiful Abbey Park wherein we will find the ruins of the old Leicester Abbey. It’s here we will find the burial site of Thomas Wolsey. Arguably even more famous than King Richard III!

Leicester is a relatively short and direct 71 minutes journey by train from London St Pancras and very easy to get to…. I know as I make the journey almost daily! Leicester is also full of cafes, pubs, restaurants, markets and shops so you may well wish to stay on after the tour
