Home of Prime Minister Sir WInston Churchill
Chartwell House in the beautiful Kent countryside was home to our more famous Prime Minister and Wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill. His name stands out amongst centuries of Prime Ministers including Wellington, Gladstone, Thatcher and Blair.
Chartwell House is one of the hundreds owned by The National Trust and is very well preserved. When visiting it is easy to imagine Sir Winston walking in from his garden or putting the finishing touches on one of his many showcased and rather splendid paintings.
Rarely can any man have been so talented, he being also a distinguished writer and notable historian as well as one-time soldier. No visitor to Great Britain should miss the home of perhaps one of the most famous leaders in world history as well as his glorious landscaped gardens.
If time permits a visit can also be made to nearby Quebec House, home of General Wolfe. Wolfe is most notably remembered for the capture of Quebec and the securing of continental North America into the English-speaking realm.
Situated in the pretty village of Westerham are several local shops selling local produce and gifts.
